The Hyundai i30 has been specifically designed and developed for Europe. Korea’s leading car maker has produced a stylish model that will blend seamlessly into the UK’s C segment family car category. In terms of packaging, quality, driving dynamics, safety, style and image the i30 can now take Hyundai to a new level and will be very capable of competing with the very best in its class.
Hyundai chose the letter, 'i' to link between technology itself and Hyundai's core brand. The 'i' has a long tradition as an icon for technology products and the ‘i’ is part of Hyundai’s brand promise, the desire to ‘inspire’ forms one of the cornerstones of the Hyundai brand.
The i30 is the first Hyundai to carry the ‘i’ in its name. The number 30 is the numerical equivalent of the letter assigned to the i30’s segment, the European C segment. The next to arrive will be i30 CW, i30-based C segment cross-wagon/estate.
The i30 range will see ESP fitted as standard, a safety system which, combined with electronic traction control, balances power and braking to help the driver maintain control over the direction of the vehicle at all times. ESP helps to keep the vehicle headed in the intended direction where it might otherwise unavoidably slide, or worse, spin out of control, often ending up facing in the opposite direction. Other safety features such as front head restraints, driver and passenger full length curtain airbags, passenger airbag deactivation switch, front and rear seatbelt reminder system, seatbelt pretensioners and ISOfix childseat fixing points will be a standard fixture.
Also Front fog lights, remote-locking folding key, glovebox cooling, electrically heated door mirrors and a trip computer will be standard across the range.
There will be three trim levels. First being Comfort, introducing features such as air conditioning, alloy wheels and integrated steering wheel audio controls. Secondly Style, which will focus on the sporty styling and convenience of the vehicle seeing high levels of specification and safety equipment, including Hyundai's new Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS). Thirdly Premium, will highlight the high quality of design and specification available in the i30 range, features such as reversing sensors and climate control offered.
The trim level will not be depicted anywhere on the car. Diesel models will only be be identifiable by a ‘CRDi’ badge on the sides beneath the indicator repeater lights. All models will feature Single CD players with 6 speakers, MP3, WMP & iPod Compatibility, RDS, Steering wheel remote controls and USB/iPod & Aux connections in centre console.
The i30 has the longest wheelbases in its class, a wide track and tall inside roofline, seating 5 very comfortabley. The luggage area gives an impressive 340 litres load volume with the rear seats upright. With the 60/40 split rear seats folded flat, the load length is increased to 1,141 mm increasing the load volume to 1,250 litres.
